Have to say I am sadly very disappointed in this book. I wrongly assumed first off it would be Tom Thorne short stories, but they are not. The first story, is boring, pointless and quite possibly the worst short story I have ever read. The 2nd appeared like it might be a step in the right direction, until the ending, when I realized I intensely disliked all the characters that were left alive, which left me feeling pretty anti the story. The 3rd and final story, I hate to say, was just so obvious, and again just seemed pointless. I'd like my money back, and my time ! I am a big Mark Billingham fan, but not this time :( avoid this one.

I thoroughly enjoy mark billinghams books.i have actually met him when he was in nz.a great writer.
I particularly loved the Dancing Towards the blade story........really evocative. Something completely different for Mark Billingham but still wonderfully entertaining.
Billingham always delivers the goods.
