Can you ever have a second first time? Josh Carver thinks it's just another lunch with his best friend, Michael-until Michael confesses he just turned down a date with his hot veterinarian crush. It seems Michael's abusive ex left him more scarred than Josh realized. Josh and his husband, Ian, have done their best to help Michael leave his horrific past behind, but even Josh is stunned when Ian suggests that Josh help Michael with his fear of physical intimacy. After all, it isn't like it would be the first time-Josh and Michael were once each other's firsts. A hesitant first kiss, and Josh and Michael's natural attraction eases the way. But with Michael still balking at the prospect of sex with someone new, Ian steps into the breach. Everything is fine and dandy until emotions become so entangled, their friendship-and a marriage-could be at risk. Warning Contains three guys who will do anything for each other, a hot tub that's always the right temperature, and a cat with an attitude problem.

Other reviewers have gone in depth with their reviews, so this is just my 2 cents.

Premise was good, but the execution of it not so much. I have maybe 15 of LA Witts books, Conduct Unbecoming from memory is my fav. She has written m/m/m before and it was so much better than this. And is usually a guaranteed good read for me.

What is my beef with this? Not just the repetitious sex (and I do love me some sexy, and even a lot in my reading material) it was the repeating thoughts of Josh, and the immature wording of some of it. Does he have to be so turned on each time, come so hard he almost blacks out....all the time. And the wording is exactly that, every damn time. I know the author has a much, much wider vocabulary and can write stories that have more depth and breadth than this. As another reviewer pointed out, a little bit of story.....and then sex, a bit more story.....and then sex.

Michaels issues and the violence he suffered are not dwelt on, you are told just enough to have an idea of life he had with Steve. This is not about that, it is the aftermath of it that is the focus here, and I liked that she did not put more of that violence on the page for some added angst. And Josh and Ian were good with him and for him, but everyone was two dimensional and I think that is in part because of the first person point of view.

So, not my cup of tea.

** If 'sharing' in a marriage bothers you, I'd suggest you not read this book**

I didn't think I'd. care for a menage when it involved a married couple. I was glad the author subtly reminded me that it was all consentual. This story was well written and moved fairly fast. The sex scenes were HOT (and there were plenty of them; M/M as well as M/M/M).

I love when an author makes me hate a character who isn't really even there. I wanted to kill Michael's ex!

*****
POV... first person

Standalone or series... stand alone

Did it give me a hangover... slight

Would I recommend it... yes

Would I read it again... yes
Holy sex therapy, Batman!! Now I know that many readers think that the premise is far-fetched. I mean, who would allow his/her husband/wife to help a former lover regain their sexuality?? But for some reason, I bought it! Such a unique and imaginative approach that was intriguing and for me, believable. I really connected with Josh and Michael - not that much with Ian but I am thinking that was intentional on the author's part. His time with Michael was shorter and less intense. But Josh and Michael - intensity magnified!! Loved Josh's gentleness with Michael and his coaxing. Almost as if he was calming a skittish child. You could feel the love between those two from the very beginning. I also liked how the book ends more as a HFN. They don't have all the answers - they'll work it out - and that's fine. Much more realistic than a happily ever after - tralalala - off into the blue sky sort of ending. Love is love and who are we to think it doesn't make sense. Hope we get to see these characters again soon!
The book had 228 pages or 3416 locations on my kindle. The book was about 3, 30 something year old men, Josh, Ian and Michael. Josh and Ian had been happily married couple for several years. Michael and Josh were best friends and had been lovers in the past. Michael had been in an abusive relationship, which caused him to struggle, with physical intimacy. Josh offered a to lend Michael a helping hand, with his husbands blessing. The book contained intense kisses, hand jobs, massages, lots and lots of heated, detailed, hot oral sex and anal sex with M/M and M/M/M sexual interaction. The men were ok. Josh was an animal lover and deeply devoted to Michael and Ian. Ian was a caring and patient school teacher who loved Josh and cared about Michael. Michael was an emotionally broken and needy man. who deeply depended on his best friend. The book is told thru Josh's Pov, which really irritated me. I constantly wondered what Michael and Ian were thinking, throughout the book. I also didn't feel the connection between Michael and Ian. They seemed to only be together, because of their obvious love for Josh.
Josh and Ian have been happily married for a decade. They have a friend, Michael, who has been through a rough experience that left him in tatters.

Michael and Josh have been friends since forever. They have been each other's first experience, but they seemed never to be on the same page, so when Josh met Ian he fell in love and after some (just hinted) problems, they married. They live a quiet life with a rescue dog and a rescue cat. The dog loves everybody and the cat hates Josh, while only tolerating Ian.

Michael had started his relationship with Steve about the same time Josh and Ian married. But unlike their relationship, his was very poisonous. Domestic violence is unacceptable, but still happens too often. Fortunately there are only hints and no details of what has happened to Michael. But it has been serious enough to cost him his dream of becoming a veterinary. He had to settle for less, even if he still works with animals.

Michael confides in Josh about his inability to tolerate physical contact of any kind. It's then Ian proposes to Josh to help Michael. After all they know each other intimately and Michael seems confortable with Josh.

Step by step Michael relaxes and becomes more courageous. But all this puts a strain on Josh. Not quite comfortable with being unfaithful, even if he has his husband's blessing. And then there are his ever present, although slumbering, feelings for Michael.

All this is written from Josh's point of view, so we can only guess what Michael and Ian are thinking. Well, except that Michael is thankful, that much is obvious.

At the end they are planning on buying a larger bed. After all - one cat, two dogs and three men need more space (wink, wink).
